phpListings works a lot like phpMyDirectory. I used phpMyDirectory years ago. is phpListings an updated version of it or was it derived from the phpMyDirectory code?

in a way, yes. But not in terms of code.

We’ve always been fans of phpMyDirectory. Years ago, we worked as developers building custom PMD projects and even ran the pmdtemplates.com website that offered templates for PMD. It was a great system that helped many people build directory websites and we genuinely miss it. Unfortunately, it’s no longer supported and has become too outdated for modern needs.

That’s why we decided to create phpListings not as a copy, but as a modern replacement for what phpMyDirectory once offered. Built from scratch with clean, up-to-date PHP code, it carries the same spirit and purpose, just designed for today’s web.
