Hi,

I have some questions:

  1. I am just looking at the demo and can't see a way to set up ads?
  2. Do you have instructions about PayPal API? Will this allow recurrent billing?
  3. Are there instructions on how to set up categories please? I want to migrate my site suppliers.engineeringclicks.com but am not sure if your software can accomodate it (categories/sub-categories).
  4. Is the template editable? I don't want such a long homepage - can I remove some sections?
  5. Can Pricing be on a separate page?
  6. What is 'Requires Backlink'? Is this asking the lister to link back to me? Or is this allowing them to buy a link to their site?
  7. You offer free set up, please could you provide some details on what's included and what the timescales are like.

Any other advice is welcome.

Thank you!

While you're waiting for support to reply... many of your questions can be answered by looking at manual found here:  https://www.phplistings.com/manual/installation/server-requirements

Hello,

I am just looking at the demo and can't see a way to set up ads?

There is a 'Banner Ad' widget you can use to add Adsense to your website. It is also possible to add any HTML/JS banner code (custom or of a different banner ad network) to any of your public pages using that widget. Please, find several banner ad examples on the demo website.

Do you have instructions about PayPal API? Will this allow recurrent billing?

Currently, phpListings supports one-time payments via PayPal Checkout API. This means listing owners have to pay an invoice manually each billing cycle. But subscriptions are supported by the 'Stripe Subscription' gateway which is also included.

Here are the Stripe setup instructions:

https://www.phplistings.com/community/tutorials-frequently-asked-questions/306-configuring-stripe-subscription-payment-gateway

Are there instructions on how to set up categories please? I want to migrate my site suppliers.engineeringclicks.com but am not sure if your software can accomodate it (categories/sub-categories).

You can add multi-level categories to phpListings. This means there can be parent categories with an unlimited number and levels of child categories.

There are several ways of adding categories to your website:

- using the category management tool of the administrator panel where you can add those categories with sub-categories manually, one by one; or add multiple categories with sub-categories using the 'Add Multiple Categories' tool of the administrator panel. This tool accepts the following format you can use to quickly set up your category set:

Parent Category;Child Category;Sub-child category

Parent Category;Child Category;Another Sub-child category of the Child Category

Another Parent Category;Child Category;Sub-child category

- this is possible to import a set of listings from a CSV file that already includes categories. Those categories (and locations) will be automatically imported to your phpListings database, so there's no need to enter those manually. Here is the import guide:

https://www.phplistings.com/manual/listings/import-export

Is the template editable? I don't want such a long homepage - can I remove some sections?

phpListings is designed to be easily editable using the widget blocks system. This way you can add/remove/re-position any logic block on any public page.

Just login as the administrator here:

https://demo.phplistings.com/admin/

login: admin@phplistings.com

password: admin

and return back to the website home page.

Now click the 'Page Widgets' menu item of the top black menu to access the list of widgets available for this page.

This is where you can manage any widget by clicking the 'Edit' button next to the widget. You can remove/re-position or add new widgets to any public page.

Here is the manual:

https://www.phplistings.com/manual/appearance/widgets

Can Pricing be on a separate page?

Sure, you can create a separate custom page and place the 'Pricing' widget of any listing type there. Or you can use an already available listing type pricing page, e.g.:

https://demo.phplistings.com/listings/pricing

What is 'Requires Backlink'? Is this asking the lister to link back to me? Or is this allowing them to buy a link to their site?

This requires a lister to link back to your website using the proposed URL.

You offer free set up, please could you provide some details on what's included and what the timescales are like.

This includes free initial software installation to your host.  Please note that the default installation does not have any listing types, pre-defined pages etc. So you can create your own setup just the way you need.

We can also install the demo content for you to start with.

Thank you.

Thank you both!

Is there a way of automatically transfering the categories/listings content from my exisiting directory to the new one? Or do I have to do all this manually?

Also, do you have any examples of sites using your software? Would love to see what it could look like.

Thanks!

Hello,

it is possible to import your existing listings with categories and other options if your legacy software supports listing export to a CSV file.

Please, submit a support ticket and I will provide a list of installations from users who agree to share their URL.

Thank you.
